Passage of the Day: Jeremiah 6:14-20

Jeremiah 6:14-20

14 They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.

15 Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them,” says the Lord.

16 This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

17 I appointed watchmen over you and said, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But you said, ‘We will not listen.’

18 Therefore hear, O nations; observe, O witnesses, what will happen to them.

19 Hear, O earth: I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their schemes, because they have not listened to my words and have rejected my law.

20 What do I care about incense from Sheba or sweet calamus from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not please me.”

16 This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.-- ask for the old paths.. The parts of our lives where we failed.. And how God made Himself visible in those events.. What He wants us to learn..

    at first i was...having difficulty understanding this...but here's what i have understood...

as a whole...those people who are proud of what they do...and think they know what they are doing already...will be humbled by what God will do to them.

if they could just think and look back where they came from...and follow the right path...they will never be put to shame and have disaster on their lives.

That is why for me, it is important for us to look back, because by that we would be aware on how we are living our lives.. Looking back on the pride we had, the selfish acts.. And all.. At some point, God would allow us to be glad about how we worked for ourselves, on how we depended on our own knowledge to work on things.. Yet, He will never allow us to settle on such practice and would give us disasters, as you've said, to awaken our hearts and minds..

    yup...
if only we commit everything we do to Him...and be guided by Him...it will always be better or not the best

God knows us more..more than we know ourselves...He knows...if we worship Him wholeheartedly or not too.

Yet, we are not perfect.. And us being such, makes Him the Perfect One. ♥

  3. Well done!
In this passage again I could see Israel's rebellion. They didn't want to her God. I wish we all were God's pride since He chose us beforehand. Now we are his people too. I am do glad to be His Israel.
    Praise be to God.
I love your discussions. Make me think a little more.
