Titus 3:3-11
(New International Version)
3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. 11 You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.

ReplyDeletewhat a life we all had back then when God hadn't redeemed us through His mercy. everything we thought back then were profitable for everyone was just...passing by...
He redeemed us, renew us through His mercy and grace to us...and as we know...not by the things we do.
v.8 "And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone."
-BE CAREFUL to devote to doing what is good-
what will be those good things to do that are excellent and profitable for everyone?

Hence, we should do our part too -- v.9 says we should avoid foolish controversies, quarrels, arguments for these are useless. And yes, true that they are, yet we still often times let ourselves be in it. V.10 says we areresponsible of one another, and if secondwarning should be done, so be it. Yet, it should stop there. -- well, for me, if my heart doesn't have a reason to give up on a person, i will not. But i already learned that thereare people that even if how many warnings you give them, still there will be no change, so it would be useless to act on them.
what will be those good things to do that are excellent and profitable for everyone?--- to answer this, for me it's as simple as 'to love everyone selflessly'.
Hans Jason
true. :)
well if you want to show that you love a person...it isn't hard not to give up warning that person right?
quoting from you, "well, for me, if my heart doesn't have a reason to give up on a person, i will not."
Christine Carla
Having to warn a perosn many times will do, but if you still do warn them over and over again losing the point of doing so bcoz there is still no change, then it would make you foolish. Giving up on a person doesn't mean that you already lost your hope on that person. We may give up on them but we still/we can stillhave the hope that they will change. It's like giving up bcoz you've done your part, now it's His time to act on him/her.
Hans Jason
that's great! =)
the greatest thing to do on those...is to love...isn't it?
Christine Carla
yes, To love them. Love them with the love of God on whom mercy and compassion will always be present. ♥
Hans Jason
amen!
sometimes it hurts to love other persons...and sometimes it is hard too... but Jesus did an example for us...though it may be hard...with His help...we could do it too.
Christine Carla
Help us learn to love like You, Lord. ♥

He already did. :)
quoting from an article... "The best news of all is that Jesus said he won’t leave you alone. He said he will send the Holy Spirit to empower you to follow him (John 16:7, 13). Believing in Jesus Christ involves making Jesus a part of your life—studying his Word, becoming like him and making him priority number one. " ...

Thank You Lord for not leaving us alone.
Christine Carla
Yes. The learning is continuous though. that is why for me, we should always ask Him to teach us or to remind us that what we experience is a part of the learning process of having to love like He does.
