1 Corinthians 13
(New International Version 1984, ©1984)
1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

ReplyDeleteverses 1-3, tells us that, we are nothing...in everything we do, in everything we have...if we don't show love, give love to others...
4-7, tells us what love is...sometimes, a lot of people have their own definition of love. but God showed us in these verses what He wants us to know about love.
8-10, as for me, i visioned it as the one that God made 2000 yrs ago. With His love on us. His plan of love...plan of salvation for us, didn't fail. His redeeming love for us still stands for us until now...and until we die.

A very truthful passage to end the "month-of-love".
Good evening everyone!
Well, what can i say? Love above all. We may somehow say that we know love, but do we really know the meaning of love? What love is? A good question to ask ourselves isn't it? As for me, i do know what is love, but believe that i haven't grasped the full meaning of it yet. Yet, i do believe that living each day, we learn. We learn to see, feel and give it away. Often times, i can feel that it really overflows in me and there's no other way to do but to let it out and show/share it to everyone! :) that's the reason why in everything i do, i feel inspired, because i know love is within me. This passage teaches us what love is and if we are really gonna look into it, we can somehow say that we do know love, but not the real/true meaning of it. Reading it, it says -- it is patient and kind, but not all the time i am patient and kind. It doesn't envy or boast, but often times i do boast, i envy a lot! I am, at times, rude, self-seeking, and easily angered. And yes, i do keep records of wrong at some point. Evil ways, i have been there. And i can say to the ones that followed those, i should say, descriptions, i was and am able to do them, But not always. Yes, it is a continuous process. And i do believe that as long as we have our lives to live, we continue to learn and the best part is to actually grasp and act on what true love is. That is perfect love, i can say, on what the passage is telling us.. But we are not perfect. I am not perfect. We often times loose ourselves and forget what has to be the right things to do. But it is never too late to aim for perfection! Especially when the goal is -- TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS. ♥

Yes, we are, a work in progress. Yes, i am ...an opposite of what described of love in here...at times. But it's great to know that, it's not all-of-the-time i do that too. (v. 4-7) Learning about Him makes me more of a person that shows that i am capable of being/doing that way.

Amen to that! Because we all are able and we will know what love is or how to show it if we choose to. :) we are all created in one of Him, like Him.. So it is already in us. That is why we MUST choose to aim for perfect love. ♥

To answer your question jayz.. For me, it is because together with love, it says that thes three shall remain, but still, the greatest among them is love -- coz when there's love -- there's always hope and faith will keep on burning as well.
