Passage of the Day - Ecclesiastes 9:13-18

Ecclesiastes 9:13-18

(New International Version)

 Wisdom Better Than Folly
13 I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me: 14 There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siege works against it. 1516 So I said, "Wisdom is better than strength." But the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.  17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good. Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man.

  2. My understand on this:
    - The poor man didn't save the city bc his wisdom was despised, and his words were not heeded.
    - Therefore powerful man destroyed the city.
    - We'd better hear quit words of a humble, wise and poor man than the shout of ruler of fool ( comparing the powerful man and the poor man again)
    - Last phrase: the weapons of war (again) were the powerful man's weapons which are useless comparing to the poor man's wisdom. The sinner ( all in this passage) is the powerful man who destroyed all the work that could be done if people listened to the poor man.
I linked the examples God gave us with his commandments.
These two men were used as examples, and God's command is hearing wise poor man father than a wicked sinner and powerful man.
We have other examples Jesus vs Pilatus, John Baptist vs Pilatus, Isaiah vs the kings ( of Egypt, Assyria, etc)

  3. I hope you all understand. My the Holy Spirit bless you all.
If you pay attention you will see that Israel tend to hear powerful ppl rather than poor ppl. Another example is when Moses told Israel to leave the Egypt most of them doubted.
    God bless you!

In that way, Dili Lang kita ang mu.grow.. Ang uban pud.. Kay if we have enough wisdom, we can lead others to Him as well :)
-(it is the Lord who's speaking Mari. Because if we have our faith, we should follow His words too. We can follow His words if we really do understand them, yeah? So it is important to understand what Our Lord is saying. In that way, the growth is not just in us, but for others too, because if we have enough wisdom, we can lead others to Him as well)

-(Mar, this is not a competition where one would be greater than the other when it comes to God's words. We also have different reflections, right?)

    Maridel

-(I don't know what to say. Amen!)

    Christine Carla
Ok Lang na Mari.. Tama ang ingon ni Kuya Jason.. We have different reflections.. :)
-(that's alright Mari. Jason was right on saying that we do have different reflections.)

    Hans Jason
    my reflection on this is...

sometimes when we are impatient in doing things...sometimes we do it by brute force, in turn...nasira ang atong buhaton... sometimes also...maka reflect ko anang away-away ba...mawal-an na bitaw ug pasensya sa isa ka tao...makapag-salita ka ng di mabuti sa kanya na hindi napag-isipan :))
-(sometimes when we are impatient in doing things...sometimes we do it by brute force, in turn. What we are doing is destroyed. Sometimes, I can also reflect on this with regards on quarrels/fights. I easily loose patience on a person, I could say harsh words that is not good for that person without having second thoughts on what I say.)

    Christine Carla
Jason: yep. Words could be sharp.. And should be handled well. We also have to know how to use them because it can sort of reflect on what a person is too..
    Good reflection.
For me naman, well.. I should say, my understanding needs to be polished pa jud.. I'm not good on understanding jud, na as in gani.. Kay naay mga passages na it would take me many times na balik balik basa.. Wa gihapon kasabot hehe
-(for me, I should say that my understanding still needs to be polished. I'm not good on understanding His words really. There are passages where it would take me many times to read over and over again, yet I still cannot understand.
